Genoa is our base, and Portofino lies just along the coast at the tip of its promontory, past Camogli and Santa Margherita Ligure. Being this close makes it easier to plan set-up around the narrow coast road and the timings of your day.

A Riviera wedding often begins with a ceremony in a small church or a garden above the sea, then moves to a hotel or villa terrace for the aperitivo, with the Gulf of Tigullio below. That hour in the evening light is where the booth comes into its own, and it keeps going after dinner, once the music starts.

Couples marrying in Portofino often have guests staying all along the coast, in Santa Margherita, Rapallo or Camogli. The prints give everyone the same keepsake to carry home, designed around your names, your date and, if you like, the colours of the harbour.

LOGISTICS ON THE RIVIERA

Planning the booth at a Portofino or Riviera wedding

Portofino itself has very little room for vehicles, and the road in from Santa Margherita Ligure is narrow and busy in season. Before we confirm, we work out with your venue where we can unload, how the equipment reaches the set-up spot and at what time, so it arrives quietly, long before your guests.

Many hotels and villas on the Tigullio are built into the hillside, from Santa Margherita and Rapallo to Zoagli and Sestri Levante, with terraces a few flights above or below the entrance. We ask about lifts, stairs and service entrances early and plan the carry around them.

On a terrace above the sea, wind is the thing to watch. A breeze that feels lovely at the aperitivo can freshen as the evening goes on, and the booth and its printer need a sheltered place, so we look for a corner against a wall, under an awning or just inside the doors, with an indoor alternative agreed in case of rain.

We are there around an hour before the agreed start. The set-up itself takes 20 to 30 minutes, which leaves time for the unloading a Riviera venue can involve.
